Peachtree PubCrawl, Tuesday, 4 July 2023

Post by DebbieDoesDigits »

Hi Everyone!

Once again, we are doing our annual Peachtree PubCrawl, along side of the Peachtree RR racists (sort of). For newbies, we alter the RR course & stop at our hash kennels & maybe a brewery or two along the way.

Here are details on behalf of On The Rag (OTR), the eccentric quiet guy who you see sometimes at hashes with a “rag” on his “head.” On occasion, he shows us he’s not so quiet, though! 🤣🤣🤣 Here are the details:

Peachtree PubCrawl, Tuesday 4 July 2023

I could do a lot of ‘Splaining, but it’s the PubCrawl! Y’all know the drill.

Marta is Smarta, BuckNoggin Station is closest, beware of R@cists, best exit is from the footbridge (direction away from Ptree Street), bear left/south toward Tower Place until you reach the r@ce course, head south.

GATHER, 3179 Ptree, MoonDogs/PinkMartini
Gather 0700, on-out/depart 0720
Following are Expected BS at #### Peachtree, and departure therefrom, all times -ish:

BS Fellinis, 2809 Ptree, depart 0800
BS Eiffel Tower, 2300 dpt 0845
BS Black Bear Tavern, 1931 dpt 0920
BS Grassy knoll, 1529 dpt 1000
BS OLPM, 1221 dpt 1030 (BYO? Need beer)
Take 14th to Piedmont Park, cross active oval, cross Gazebo bridge, cross top of Meadow, look for 550 Cresthill Dr, look for Hashers, END

Cost: $8 for PubCrawl gets you beer & orange food.
Bring extra $ for beer stops at breweries, & for On after.

On After: For those wanting to eat after END/Circle, Mellow Mushroom is close by. They open at noon & they do not make reservations, but they guaranteed they will have enough food & drink, as long as space & our wait time works. We can check in with them or get there at noon. If you know of a place close by that might be less crowded, etc., let us know on Facebook, or here if you are not on FB. We will also post in the Atlanta FB group; you may also bring your idea that day.

Questions?

Watch this space for additional info/changes.

OTR's map of the PubCrawl is attached to the Facebook Announcements. If you are not on FB & want one, I can text or get it to you another way.

A slight revision if joining en route: OTR said the map has approximate times of our arrival at each stop. He is mindful with that, so you might want to check that 1st!

So still contact me or post on FB, but as secondary, if you can't figure out the map. I am not planning to drink too much, but we know how that goes sometimes! 😘

From OTR:

What the Peachtree Pubcrawl means to me. (see below for practical stuff.)

Since 1776, and definitely since about 1989, hashers from all over the metro have gathered on Independence Day, to shake a fist at King George and Queen Julia and yell “Rule 6 you stinkin Royals!!! We assert our natural and providential right to Crawl from Pub to Pub alongside your R@ce, and we don’t wear no stinkin tags! (Unless we do!)”

So yes, when we were all younger and more numerous the Crawl attracted several dozens of Hashers, none of them even close to sober, some who just partied straight thru from the Painful Member to the Crawl, and there was much rejoicing and fist-fights and f#cking in the bushes were quite common, twenty of us jumped in the Equifax Foundation, somebody dived on a table of water cups, AND there were scads of low-wage paying restaurants in every direction that were delighted to open early on a National Holiday to feed our drunk asses. Truly it was a Golden Age.

Things change but we’ll do our best and the Crawl and its traditions will survive: Pinelake at Eiffel Tower will ALWAYS be Clothing Optional.

(Practical stuff:)

As per Tradition, it will start early, gathering 7-ish, Crawlers into the stream 0720-ish. This is NOT a r#n, it is a crawl. We have laid in the stops carefully, so that we will spend about 15 minutes between stops, lightly jogging only, and walking any hills, and then we’ll have about 15 minutes at each stop to visit, drink, sing, and foment uprisings. See the map or ask OTR, we will be pretty close to the timeline so you can join us as we Crawl.

By getting into the stream early, we will make the most of the course at our leisure and still stay ahead of the garbage trucks.

Hasher R@cists should try to circle back and join at the Grassy Knoll 1529 Peachtree. END is on the other side of the Piedmont Meadow, close to Cresthill Av (god willing). We’ll find food somewhere.

Independently Together. On-On.
