Yes, I know what you're thinking ... the number 1734 sounds awfully familiar.

Of course! (Memory's light bulb flickers on.) It's the year that Alexander Pope wrote his under-neglected work, Sober Advice From Horace.

It's sort of a before-its-time manual for hashers, really, full of enlightening wisdom such as,
Hath not indulgent Nature spread a Feast,
And giv'n enough for Man, enough for Beast?
But Man corrupt, perverse in all his ways,
In search of Vanities from Nature strays:
Yea, tho' the Blessing's more than he can use,
Shuns the permitted, the forbid pursues!
Weigh well the Cause from whence these Evils spring,
'Tis in thyself, and not in God's good Thing:
Then, lest Repentance punish such a Life,
Never, ah, never! kiss thy Neighbor's Wife.
I mean, that is literally what we're going to be doing this Pinelake Saturday. Uncanny. Good advice, Alexander Pope might have said, is simply information that you receive when it's much too late.

Where were we? Oh yes, trail!

Saturday, Saturday, Saturday! It's Pinelake for your pleasure, the very twentieth of July.

Meat up at 2:00PM, scuttle out at 2:30PM. Trail has been curated, and perhaps marked, by Too Limp Clover.

Where: Tucker, GA. Trail is approximately starting at, departing from, denying all knowledge of, doing a beer stop far from, and ultimately returning to, High Card Brewing, 2316 Main St, Tucker, GA 30084. Well, weather permitting we can use the green space next to it for meetup and circle. Weather not permitting, there is shelter.

What to bring: It's BYOE - bring your own everything, including beer, and/or money to get your beer at High Card / Blue Tarp / Down Home Brewing. Maybe also the usuals such as a chair, bug spray, rubbing alcohol for poison ivy (I'll try to avoid it though!) and all that good stuff. Also, virgins, if you know any. Trail will be dog-friendly, come to think of it, if it's not too hot. Trail will adhere to shady stretches as much as possible.

So, come on out y'all to shun the permitted and pursue the forbid, and do a lot of whencing with evil springs. On-on!
